Repost from Threads: America's addiction to capitalism

Give a company 50 years of your life. Sacrifice your physical and mental health. Miss out on being with your family. So that one day you can be free. We don't have to live this way!

Our current economic system thrives on your belief and reliance in its importance for survival. If we believe something different, could we create something different?

I believe the answer is no. This country will not allow it. The US governments symbiotic relationship with capitalism is ingrained in everything atp. Many lives would have to be lost.

Unfortunately, the way things are going, many lives are already gone with much more to come. What do we gain for the death and destruction? Some hope to gain land and access. Some hope to gain money.

And then there are people like me who don't see other lives as a means to an end. I want my existence to be respected and I respect the existence of others. I believe in harm reduction over all.

Which is why I have a problem with capitalism. It causes harm to steal profit. They steal from employees and consumers. Most of us are both. They under pay you, then over charge you. This is harmful and antisocial behavior.

So if corporations are people, they are sociopathic at best. They have the power to enslave us. I'm in management so that makes me an overseer. Company towns are about to make a comeback. That's slave quarters.

Most employees are just trying to survive and these corporations know that. Easy to exploit the poor and disadvantaged. Easy to keep a healthy supply of poor employees when you take away people's rights.

The government will NEVER save us from capitalism.

As I'm creating this blog post, California is burning, Trump is transitioning to regain power, TikTok is on the verge of being my banned, and I still have to get up and go to work tomorrow.

Life in the United States feels unstable at the moment. It feels like the bottom will fall out any second. Those of us at the bottom will be the first to fall when this happens. The only people below me to cushion my fall are black women who are less fortunate than myself. I make enough money with one job to support myself and my family. But, I am also disabled and unsure of how long I can sustain my employment.

Can we effectively stand up to our government? My husband thinks they would just kill us in the streets if we rise up. The world is looking to Americans for help, we won't be able to donate money to the less fortunate if we are fighting for our own lives. We are in the belly of the beast.
