Cowboy Carter and The Beyonce Effect

If you know me, then you know I successfully bought tickets in the artist presale for Renaissance in Pittsburgh, PA. That show was cancelled, and my daughter was seriously injured in a car accident in the same week. So I just let it go, I didn't try to get tickets to another show. I have been whining about it since summer 23.

It took me three days, but I got my ticket for night 3 in ATL in the end zone. Very expensive and seemingly unreasonable price to be charged let alone for my husband to encourage me to pay let alone I actually went through with it. $220 a month until it's paid off. What's done is done, we are moving on to the outfit. Because, I will be in the building. It's important to me. Let's talk about why.

I am one year younger than Beyonce. When Destiny's Child was saying No, No, No I was 16 years old and I was hooked. That first DC album is a 90's R&B classic as far as I am concerned. It was solid music, lyrics and vocals from 4 southern bells outta H-Town. It resonated with me, and I played it daily. I have been a fan since, Bey was the obvious star of the group from the very start. Over the years as DC grew in popularity and Bey eventually went solo, her influence over black women has grown to an media empire that churns out hits, and sells a variety of goods catered to the Black American experience. Her fans, affectionately known as The Hive, are known to be fiercely loyal over not only the singer, but her family as well. All of this love is not extended to all areas she touches however. Beyonce famously won the AOTY Grammy after rapping about the annual snub in the very album that won.

In America, it doesn't matter how loved you are, how talented you are, how hard you work; as a black person they live to humble you. "They" being any authority on anything in this country, because it's all controlled by white people who don't like us. So to The Hive, we feel the need to collectively lift her up as they try to knock her down a peg. We also love the elaborate, extra ass shows she puts on. These setups are intricate and EXPENSIVE. These ain't cheap tickets because this ain't a cheap tour. I can't wait for the costumes, the dancers, the choreography, the sets, the transitions, the lights the PERFORMANCE. This tour is about to be an event, a moment in Hive history and it cannot be missed. So I payed the price and will not be frugal or conservative with my outfit.

Bey-Haw

So in a world of  coups and chaos, the 92% will be filling stadiums, buckin, body rolling and line dancing. Everyone will see how black women can come through your city in a whirlwind, stimulate your economy for a few days and then disappear as if it all never happened. The best dressed, best smelling, most moisturized crowd you will see. The Hive will be wild, free and celebratory as we honor our ancestors contribution to Americana (which is the point of the album). We will not be silenced, shushed, muted or erased. The American Reqiuem starts in Los Angeles and ends in Atalanta. Coast to Coast black people coming together in multilayered harmonies, Arabic scales and operatic arrangements. I love being black and can't wait to revel in my blackness with likeminded individuals.
